Klimabyen (the Climate City) in Middelfart
One of the great social challenges of the future will be the adaption of our cities to a climate with more extreme amounts of rain. The Climate City develops new innovative climate adaptation solutions.
The Climate City comprises the western district of Middelfart - an area of approximately 450,000m2 with a height difference of 38 metres.
Realdania, Middelfart Wastewater and Middelfart Municipality are collaborating here to create the most beautiful climate adaptation in Denmark in which everyday rain fall and cloudbursts and extreme rain is handled on the surface. The aim is to relieve the pressure on buried pipes while developing a more beautiful, more fun and vibrant city.
The budget is approximately DKK 76 million.
